Viscount Tecarus was a viscount in the Poromoish province of Krovla. He is also the heir to the Poromiel crown.[1]

General[]

His home, in Cordyn, is a palace on the eastern side of a mountain peak when approached from the direction of Aretia. It is a sprawling structure with a glistening combination of white pillars and blue pools that cascade in five distinct terraces down the gentle slope of the hills above the beach.

The interior is build with white marble and is much more of a palace than a fortress. It is indefensible and would fall if venin chose to take it. The ceilings are the height of Sgaeyl, and the main entrance is a large open-concept room with columns as thick as Tairn's legs. Intricate murals are carved into each circular block with a spiral staircase that leads to the second story.

The pool is turquoise and winds around the staircase and out onto the terrace. They do not have rails around them.

Biography[]

The Viscount is the distant cousin of the Poromish queen, Queen Maraya, and was named her heir. At the time, he was over 50 years old and had no direct heirs of his own, so his appointment was not well-loved decision.

He is the Viscount of the Poromish province of Krovla, and lives in Cordyn.

The Viscount was the first ally that Fen Riorson sought out at the start of his rebellion. Xaden Riorson ended their alliance during the events of Fourth Wing.

Prior to the events of Iron Flame, Xaden was betrothed to his niece, Catriona Cordella, which started a year earlier, when Catriona turned 20. He broke off the betrothal when he realized that Tecarus would never actually give the luminary to the revolution, and was only going to allow the revolution to use it in Cordyn.

During the events of Iron Flame, Viscount Tecarus was in possession of a luminary, which is a device that completes a forge, that the Revolution needed in order to make their own weapons. The Viscount was willing to give the forge to the Revolution in exchange for weapons, a private army, and the opportunity to see Violet wield lightning, Xaden refused his offer because he was unwilling to allow Violet to show him her wielding.

After having that offer refused, in exchange for entering negotiations for the luminary, he wants to see Violet wield.

Violet Sorrengail, Xaden Riorson, Mira Sorrengail, and Brennan Sorrengail, under the name Lieutenant Colonel Aisereigh, travel to Cordyn to negotiate for the luminary. Before they can begin negotiations, Tecarus confirms that Violet is, in fact, capable of wielding lightning by having her striker the Rybestad chest, the chest that Fen Riorson brought for his negations during the rebellion; it was one Fen Riorson's most valuable items that he owned. Before Violet is able to strike the chest with her lightning, A Venin emerges from the chest, looking like they had been kept prison for weeks.

Together, Brennan, Mira, and Violet were able to kill the Venin. After that, Tecarus reveals that he quarried stones from the east of the Dunness River, the land that borders the Barrens that had already been drained of its magic, because he has been capturing Venin.

Tecarus agrees to give the revolution the luminary if they took and trained the hundred flier cadets that took shelter with him after Cliffsbane Flight Academy was destroyed by venin, and supply the gryphon drifts with weapons.
