Unification refers to the event of all of Navarre's provinces being unified into one kingdom.

General Information[]

Unification refers to the six kingdoms (Calldyr, Luceras, Deaconshire, Morraine, Elsum, and Tyrrendor) unifying to make the kingdom of Navarre. This happens 633 years before the beginning of Fourth Wing, at the end of the Great War. During Unification, the First Six created the ward stone at Basgiath.[1] This is also when the dragons decided to use The Vale as their collective hatching grounds.[2] Once the kingdom was unified, Navarre gave one year for any citizens to move within their border before sealing themselves from the world.[3] The crowns of the various Navarrian provinces were melted down into one, the Unification crown, which was worn by King Reginald.[4] He became the first Navarrian king, from the capital of Calldyr City.

Tyrrendor was the last of the provinces to swear fealty to the King Reginald.[5] The Battle of Gianfar, which took place along the Cliffs of Dralor, was pivotal to the unification of Navarre.[6]

The original scrolls from Unification now live in the Archives.[7] The Unification Agreement, is also available to read.[8]

Not only did the provinces unify, but the cultures did too. After Unification, the tradition of aristocratic families fostering children died out.[6] The ability to travel to other kingdoms also ended with Unification, since the Navarrian borders closed.[3] Cultures and languages were blended together, causing many aspects of each province's unique culture to be lost.[3] Some of these losses include:

  • Knowledge of Tyrrish runes[9]
    • The use of runes was banned a couple of hundred years after Unification[10]
  • Lucerish language
  • Morrainian language
  • Tyrrish language
  • Dragons' ancestral hatching grounds[2]
  • Songs[3]
  • Festivals[3]
  • Tyrrish literature[3]
  • Morrainian / Cygnisen folklore[3]
