Fourth Wing[]
Professor Devera instructs the entire Riders Quadrant during their daily Battle Brief lesson. She is a Captain in the Navarrian military, though Violet expects her to be promoted to Major by the time she finishes her teaching rotation at Basgiath.[1]
Iron Flame[]
She continues to lead Battle Brief alongside Professor Markham, though at least on the first day, she corrects him multiple times. She tells the class she was wounded by an arrow from a Gryphon flier in one of the battles mentioned that week in Athebyne.[2]
Physical Description[]
Professor Devera has short, bright purple hair that matches the purple Flame Section patch on her shoulder perfectly. She also has a lot of medals pinned to her chest. Her eyebrows are several shades darker than her deep-brown skin.[1]
In Iron Flame, she is described with shorter black hair, and a fresh, jagged wound along her bicep. [2]
Personality[]
Violet describes her as "not being the joking kind."[1] She has a strong moral compass, leading her to print news from the front line despite it putting her in danger and eventually joining the Revolution.

Lesser Magic[]
As a rider whose dragon is channeling through them, Devera is capable of performing lesser magic. With this channeling, Devera is able to do things like locking and unlocking doors without touching them, moving with preternatural speed, manipulate mage lights, and power ink pens. Lesser magic also allows Devera to place runes.[3]
