Morraine is a Navarrian province located along the north-easternmost border.

Geography[]

Morraine borders Luceras to the west, Deaconshire to the south, and Elsum to the southeast. It also borders the Emerald Sea to the north and the Poromish province of Cygnisen to the east. The Tage Mountains make up a natural border to Poromiel. The Iakobos River flows vertically through the province .

One of the most notable locations in Morraine is Basgiath, which houses the Basgiath War College. It is situated along the Iakobos River and next to The Vale, the sacred hatching grounds for dragonkind. Chantara is a nearby village that supplies Basgiath.[1] It welcomes second-year students from the Healer, Scribe, and Infantry Quadrants, but not from the Riders Quadrant. They have been prohibited for almost ten years following an incident where a brawl resulted in the burning down of a local pub.

Montserrat is an outpost along the Cygnisen border that Mira Sorrengail is stationed at for a period. Rhiannon Matthias comes from a village along the border of Cygnisen that is nearby Montserrat. Her village trains children to fight from a young age. Sipene is a village high in the Esben Mountains that's an hour's flight from Montserrat. It's one of the villages that lies beyond Navarre's protective wards.

History[]

Lyra of Morraine was a part of the First Six and spoke Morrainian, which is a logosyllabic language.[2] After Unification, Morrainian became one of the dead languages. Currently, Jesinia Neilwart is the only known character who can read it.[3]
