Gwen is one of the Infantry Cadets that go through Land Navigation along with Violet and her Squad in Iron Flame. She asks what to do if they come across a dragon. Ridoc Gamlyn and Cohen joke that they will choose a sacrifice for the dragon to eat. When Baide appears before the group, Gwen runs. Calvin, her squad leader yells for her and Tomas, squad leader for second wing, pulls her back into the group, throwing her at Calvin's feet. When Baide releases her flames, Tomas is incinerated, thereby saving Gwen's life and sacrificing his own.[1]
