Codagh is a dragon elder and is bonded to General Melgren.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Codagh is the eldest of the black dragon den.[1] Codagh is the dragon who executed the leaders of the Tyrrish Rebellion six years before the events of Fourth Wing in Calldyr, as all children of the rebellion leaders are immune to the signet of his rider. This is only possible, because of the runes the leaders made for their children as protection. These runes only activate when a person dies through dragon fire and only has effects on the dragon and rider that killed them, because of this, it must be Codagh who executed them.[2]

Physical Description[]
Codagh is a Black Swordtail.[1] He is even larger than Tairneanach, being at least 1.5 meters higher than him. His wings are described to have ripped patches from past battles.[3] It is noted that Codagh possesses a large amount of teeth, which are described to be keen and long. He has golden eyes.[4]
Personality[]
Codagh is described to be the nightmare of a black dragon.[3]
Power and Abilities[]
Like any other dragon, Codah is able to breathe fire, and use their swordtail, talons, and fangs to damage enemies.

Codagh and Tairneanach come from the same den. Codagh is the only other black dragon in existence besides Tairneanach.
Trivia[]
- In Scottish Gaelic, codagh is most likely derived from the word cogadh, which means "war."[5] His name is pronounced KOH-guh or KOH-gah.
