So obviously the book starts off with the quote "A dragon without their rider is a tragedy. A rider without their Dragon is dead." However, we see at the end of Iron Flame that it is possible for a rider to "live" without their dragon (talking about Jack Barlowe before he got what was coming to him).
SO when asked about Naolin, Tairn said something along the lines of "we do not talk about the one that came before." and know that we was a siphon who "burnt out trying to save Brennan Sorrengail, but he was too far gone".
Since we know that the second part of the statement is a lie, could the first part be a lie as well?
